This public beach near the touristy Isla Verde (near San Juan) was supposedly sold to private developers by corrupt public officials, or so says the gentleman supervising the beach camp-in. Miranda and I dropped in one day in July, 2008 on our way to San Juan. The Spanish reads: "friends of the ocean", "beaches without bars", "Plutonium-free Caribbean", "the beaches belong to the people", and "Piñones is not for sale".
I lived in Puerto Rico from 2000 to 2004. I spent six weeks there again during the summer of 2008. These pictures are from 2008. |
