A symptom of schizophrenic post-modernity is the availability of aged images without the inconvenience of waiting. These photos were taken with Instagram for iPhone, which allows you to add filters that resemble various cameras and film.

I've driven by this warehouse several times. I've always been intrigued by old industrial place. On this day, I had my camera, enough time, and decent lighting. Taken July 22, 2010.

I had a roll of B&W film in my Canon AE-1 for over a year. I took the final picture last week and sent it in to get developed. At $18 for development and $6 for a roll of quality film, I won't be doing this often. But the excitement of getting pictures back –as well as the disappointment of all the lousy shots– is reminiscent of a former time.

I attended the AAG conference in D.C., and enjoyed it so much that Miranda and I went together for a three-day mini-vacation at the end of Spring Quarter. The monuments and musuems are fun and worth seeing at least once. But even if you ignore all the marble statue, you are still left with a city made up of many interesting neighborhoods, great restaurants, and efficient public transportation. Photos from June, 2010.

Pittsburgh, P.A. 07/04/2010

Pittsburgh is a neat city – definitely worth a few days of walking around. Despite the reputation for being a worn-out old industrial center, the city has retained and even fostered a local texture that is unique and beautiful. Gritty indeed, but that only enhances the experience. Photos from March, 2010.

German cities are charming and fun. Photos from August, 2009.
